Lesbian/Gay Chorus of San Francisco Commemorates 50th Anniversary of Stonewall Uprising
“OUT in the Streets” concert to feature a brand new choral music suite, “Quiet No More”
SAN FRANCISCO, California - May, 31st - The Lesbian/Gay Chorus of San Francisco (LGCSF) proudly presents “OUT in the Streets,” featuring a brand new choral music suite, “Quiet No More,” commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising. LGCSF Artistic Director Michael Reilly explains, “This season we decided to dream big and what could be bigger than co-commissioning a choral celebration of the Stonewall Uprising.”
“Quiet No More” is a commissioned new work that celebrates the story and legacy of the pivotal events that occurred during the Stonewall Riots in late June of 1969-–the effects of which prompted worldwide change that we continue to benefit from 50 years later. Join LGCSF for an evening of music that inspires a future commitment to resistance by honoring queer history and the courageous pioneers of social justice and equality movements.
Quiet No More, created in collaboration with New York Gay Men's Chorus and Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles, features the voices of diverse LGBTQ composers, including Julian Hornik (Dear Evan Hansen); Our Lady J (Pose, Transparent); Mike Shaieb (Through A Glass Darkly); Ann Hampton Callaway (singer/song-writer); Michael McElroy (Broadway Inspirational Voices, Rent); and Jane Ramseyer Miller (One Voice Chorus).
OUT in the Streets will take place May 31, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. at the Caroline H. Hume concert hall, San Francisco Conservatory of Music, 50 Oak Street, San Francisco, California.
This event is appropriate for all ages, and the venue is wheelchair accessible.
Tickets start at $25 and are available online at https://stonewall50.brownpapertickets.com/
