Asher Butnik

A musicologist by training, Asher has been singing in choirs of various shapes and sizes almost his entire life, starting with the Pasadena Boys Choir at the age of 10 and most recently the Oberlin Collegium Musicum before graduating in 2013. He joined QCSF as a singing member in 2015, and was thrilled to contribute further to the chorus by joining the Board of Directors in 2019. He also serves as the tenor section leader. Outside of the chorus, he works as an economic analyst and city planning consultant in Oakland, regularly volunteers with Sundance Saloon and Frameline Film Festival, and serves on the organizing committee for San Francisco Bay Queer Contra Dance Camp.
