2022 CHORAL Commission
Introduction
LGCSF is one of the oldest openly SATB queer musical organizations in the world. Our mission is to educate and inspire everybody, including ourselves with music and performances that tell our stories and provoke discussions and action.
LGCSF seeks to commission a new piece of choral music for SATB from a Black or Latinx Transfemme composer as part of our organizational commitment to create more programming of, by, and for every identity of our diverse queer community.
The Finished Piece

The Second Round
The composers selected from the first round will be invited to develop a detailed proposal including theme, structure and scope of the commission while staying true to the spirit of LGCSF. The finalist will be selected from the second-round composers.

Budget
We are offering $1500 for this commission plus covering expenses (travel, hotel, meals if coming from out of town) to attend the premiere in San Francisco, California.

The Finished Piece
Composition requirements:
- Written for a mixed chorus (SATB) and piano.
- Length of 2-3 minutes.
- Delivery includes PDF of score and all parts & MIDI recording approximating the piece.
- Share a brief statement detailing your inspiration for the piece and the message you intend to deliver to its audience.
- Virtual attendance at least two rehearsals prior to first performance.
- Attend the Pride concert (costs covered by LGCSF).
- Performance rights and licenses for the piece will be available to LGCSF
- Performance rights reserved to LGCSF for one year following the premiere.
